    Description

Antique set blacksmith's hand forged wrought iron barn door gate brackets. I have sold a l;ot of antique hand forged items over the years---thse are some of the oldest I've handled--best guess is late 1700's or early 1800's. Each weighs about 4 pounds. The following are some additional info and measurements: - The lenght of the pintle bar is 21 1/4 inches from its end to the center of the pintle hole. This bar is forged from 1 1/8 stock--it is 5/16 thick at the pintle end and is forged/tapered down to less than 1/8 inches at its end. The pintle hole looks to have held a 7/16 diameter pintle. There are 4 1/4 mounting holes - The bar that is forged on to the pintle bar is forged from 1 1/4" wide x 3/8 inch thick stock--it is a little over 14 inches long and has three 1/4 inch mounting holes. Intetrestingly--neither are forged at 90 degrees to the pintle bar--both are offset/bent down (or up depending on how they are mounted) by 5-10 degrees--I assume this was to add strenght to the bracket by keeping that bar from bending under a heavy vertical weight--clever design! Please email me if you have any questions or if you would like to see any additional photos of particular area. I welcome all questions and would much prefer to address any issues before you bid. NOTE: I ESTIMATE ALL SHIPPING COST BASED ON EAST COAST TO WEST COAST RATES AS I HAVE NO WAY OF KNOWING WHERE IT WILL EVENTUALLY GO--SHOULD THE ACTUAL SHIPPING COST BE LESS, I PROVIDE A REFUND
