    Description
    : This rare original Lionel 208 Tool Set [1928 – 1932] was only sold with work trains. It was the early variation: gray chest; brass handle, black rubber stamped “TOOL BOX” on lid and gold rubber stamped “Made in U.S.A. THE LIONEL CORPORATION NEW YORK” on bottom. The chest contains 6 nickel plated cast-iron tools: axe; pick; rake; shovel; sledge & hatchet. The pick & rake are stamped with a “K”.
    The Chest has nicks on lid and corners. Small dents are in lid. Lettering is faded, but visible. The shovel, sledge, pick & axe have a few spots on finish but no corrosion. The hatchet & rake have significant corrosion. Do to this the overall condition of the chest and tools is only “Good” (C5).
    The bonus tools are 8 carpenter and mechanic tools made by the same vendor that supplied Lionel the railroad tools for the Lionel 208 Tool Set. They are: claw hammer; ball-peen hammer; open-end wrench; monkey wrench; saw; screw-driver; square; brace & bit. They all have minor marks, some none. The bonus tools are in “Excellent” (C7) condition.
