    Description

    Hard to find 4-piece British Marx O-gauge red, cream and black clockwork tin passenger set with a windup 0-4-0 steam loco, 4-wheel tender and a pair of 9-inch 8-wheel coaches. The tender and coaches all have tab and slot couplers and tin wheels, and all are marked with the Marx Marlines Toys logo including a Marx logo on the back of the tender indicating "Made in Gt. Britain".  Coaches have very dark maroon ends. The clockwork motor on the loco winds fine and runs like a scared rabbit. The brake on the motor works as well. Takes a slip-over type key which is NOT included in the sale.
    There is scattered, light to moderate crazing on all of the pieces with the loco and one of the coaches having the most crazing.
    The finish on the loco is a little rough and spotted in areas, and there is some darkening and black marks to one side of the boiler and the adjacent sideboard and steam chest areas.
    The first coach has more moderate crazing along with a dent in the roof and a long scratch on one side which looks like the result of something being dropped on the car. The same coach has some heavier crazing and spotting to one of the maroon end pieces, as well as an area of rust and darkening at the roofline and on one side of the car at the end of the car and to a few other spots along or near the roofline as shown by the photos. It also has some black marks and spotting, along with some heavier crazing, along one side of the roof and overall has moderate scratching and marks. The second coach is pretty clean though it also has 4-5 small spots of rust and darkening along and near the roofline as shown by the photos. The tender has some minor crazing and spotting to the frame, with light to moderate wear. Call the one coach and tender VG plus or so. The loco and the coach with the dent in the roof are VG or maybe a tad less. A difficult set to acquire.
    Sold as is.

    Shipping
    : I will ship to Canada, Alaska and Hawaii. But the cost of shipping to those locations will be more than the quoted shipping price and bidders who live there should contact me prior to the end of the auction for a shipping quote. I will always combine shipping if you purchase multiple lots.
    Please note that due to COVID my stated handling time for shipping is 5 days after receiving cleared payment from the buyer. However, I try to ship within 3 days of receiving cleared payment and do so most of the time. If for some reason you cannot wait 5 days before your item is shipped, please do not bid on my items.
    Returns
    : I will gladly refund your money if I make a mistake in describing something. But please make sure you really want the item before you bid. I do not give returns if a buyer simply changes his or her mind, deciding after the fact that they don't want an item.
