Stevens Sets A Standard !

This IS a very rare book, but one to have if you collect and study many historical UFO and abduction cases. I'm a fan of Col. Stevens and couldn't find much at all published on this case (Bill Herrmann) in the huge collection of books I have, so this was THE definitive volume to read. Turns out I was intrigued from page one and couldn't put it down.
With a raw candid approach this book allows the reader to enjoy this book. In fact I feel that just THIS type of publication should set the standard for how these investigations SHOULD be done. Wendelle Stevens deserves the credit for leading the way, so to speak, with the processes of investigation here. The "investigators" should be in regular contact with the subject, communicate and interact on a personable level, carefully question and corroborating witnesses, inspect evidence surrounding the events including locations/times etc., document any event(s) or coincidence(s) relating to the case no matter how insignificant, assemble time lines--yes, this is how it should be done. I'm even impressed to see how they used several versions of the chronological story to be certain of how the details were unfolding as they documented the story in several ways. It helps the reader get a clearer picture of what material and how person/organization was informed, as well as how the witness describes events to the investigator in relation to how the witness documents the details themselves.
The case itself is in a rare class. Not so intense in contact reciprocation as the Meier case for instance, but somewhat reminiscent to the Andreasson case, albeit loosely, but still maintaining some similarities likely evident to those truly familiar with the Andreasson case. There are excellent color photos of the craft, of Bill, of the object (bar), the "script" that was transmitted to him, and plenty of photo copied documents within the content of this nearly 400 page book. It's not a difficult read, well laid out I thought, with the exception of some of the more highly technical information which just added to the unique subject matter of a case that should've been investigated further, for many more years. Unfortunately I can't say I really know why this never became a popular favorite to researchers both independent and professional as well. I have questions that still pique the skeptical part of my nature about many of these cases. I still find it entertaining following the investigations and attempting to figure out what they may mean in the big picture. Col. Stevens is no fool and invested quite a bit of his time, money, and efforts when he thought he was on to the "real thing" and had enough evidence to convince "him". That's at least good enough for me to extend a certain amount of guarded trust to the witnesses of his cases. Herrmann seems honest and there are corroborating witnesses. It's fascinating beyond expectations if all of Bill's story is true!
